Sold car without title, now what?

Lue Podewils: If you are providing the buyer with a bill of sale you should only have to file for a lost title. In Washington State you have to make an appointment with the State Patrol and get an inspection for safety, check to see if it is stolen, and also to give the current registered owner 30 days to respond in case they didn't actually sell the car.
