Hwa Waterford: it is good answer and will get soon good opportunity
Derrick Cacioppo: You will basically be what we call a Psych. Tech, someone who assists with routine provision of services and care to patients. You will do everything from act as a Ward Clerk, to actual work with patients, under the supervision of a Psychiatrist, Psychologist, Social Worker (LCSW), or Psychiatric Nurse (RN). Note, there is a lot of "scutwork" in your job description; i.e., cleanup, etc. It is NOT a glamorous career field at the level of a tech. There will be a large quantity of administrative stuff that you will be required to do as well. You will work with both inpatient and outpatient care for a range of psychological and substance abuse issues. The exact nature of your duty assignment will depend on the needs of the US Army and the mission of the hospital facility where you work. You will gain valuable insight into how mental health services are provided, both in the military and! in the civilian world. A certain level of physical strength also enters into the picture, as you will be called upon to assist with patient restraint from time to time...and that can be rather unpleasant. It is a very interesting career firled, but not without certain drawbacks. Please note that this will NOT train you as a Psychologist or Clinical Social Worker...and will help only slightly in your eventual acceptance into a graduate program that will train you to become a Psychologist or Licensed Clinical Social Worker, but it will help you decide whether or not you are interested in a career in mental health....Show more
Verdie Wollen: Excellent career choice. The very best of luckYou will have lots of patients.
Charline Granes: I don't know a lot about it but here's what I do know: your patient contact is limited to reading off a check list then handing it to thr psychiatrist. If you're ok with that then you'll enjoy your job, if you're looking for something! more independent then you won't
