Dorethea Beaston: If it is in the contract then you are legally obliged to pay the $50 monthly utility fee. It isn't fair since you don't use any utilities but there you go. Also, even if you don't use any utilities a lot of utility companies still charge a basic monthly fee just to keep the utilities on in the place. I'd bet it isn't more than a few dollars per month, but it is something. The only way you can legally be absolved of having to pay that monthly fee is if your landlord gives you written and signed permission....Show more
Arden Strachn: The contract said you are responsible for $50 for utilities. Unless it says "unless you don't use them" you have to pay.
Azalee Ahrendes: I think it is valid because the agreement was in the contract.
Gennie Shauer: Can't you get out of your one year?If it's in the contract you are stuck paying it. Can you sublet? $1050 per month is not cheap...
Lawanna Livsey: Yes.. it is.I do NOT mean to bring the br! inger of bad news...For Example...My landlord lives in Alaska, they do NOT live here9 months out of the year, If they shut off ALL the power and gas the pipes would freeze up and the place would go to pot.Should they tell the power and electric company "well we don't live there 9 months out of the year..."If you are NOT living in the space you rent.. should all the gas and power be cut?.. the pipes below and above the floor and ceiling..cut, because your NOT there? It' a pain I know..But I had the water cut off in my old place.. and the pipes drained.. but they STILL charged me a small fee each month as well as a garbage and sewer fee ((*&^%$%^&*%!)Can NOT win for losing..Peace...Show more
Delora Struzzi: if it states it in your contract then yes you are. the room is being rented out so they can share those expenses. since you are renting the room you are the one to help pay. even if you don't use it. just like you have to pay the rent even tho you don't use it.
