Monty Sieloff: I would have the High Schools better prep students for the College class. When I first stepped into a lecture hall at the University of Oklahoma I was shocked. It was nothing like going to high school, the teaching and structure of class was way different!
Rena Pepe: I work in US University as a computer admin, but did my degree in the UK system. Here is some bad things I see. This may help a little, but others may post better answers.Bad.Cost - the cost to complete 4 years at a US college is extremely high. In the UK it used to be free (was for me), but then they started charging, but at public type colleges it was only about $2k a semester. Much much less than what it is in the US.Dorms - in the US if you live on campus in a dorm, you almost always have to share a room with another student. I hate that. I like my privacy. In the UK you never ever share a room with another. You get your own dorm room.Food cost: The cost of food is not really reduced! much if at all at US colleges. In the UK, it's always reduced to students.Book cost. College books cost over $100 each! That is crazy. I would reduce the costs of these books for sure.EDIT> I suggest you repost this question under the Higher Ed section - you probably will get better answers there from the people that work in higher ed....Show more
