Vernon Martorana: answer: I must not be very good at my religion then - I haven't fallen for that nonsense. Perhaps because I and the Jews I know, realize that the ritual cleansing is symbolic, not medicinal.
Nilda Bafia: I have never seen any such study and would be extremely surprised if any such correlation exusted. How come? Mikveh is most frequently used by Orthodox women and to a lesser extent by people in the other movements. As such, the vast bulk of mikveh users would observed the laws of kashrut. These "cleansing" alternative medicines are not Kosher and are not certified by any Kashrut authority and thus no Orthodox person would make use of them- the only time we can use unkosher medication is when it is f! or a genuine medical condition and in consultation with a Rabbi. "Cleansing" products are not in the category of necessary or life saving medication! Also, the "cleansing" offered by a mikveh is purely of a spiritual nature. There are no claims to it being physically healthier or better, no claims it cleanses anything physical; it is only of a religious nature and thus in now ay correlates to the claims of these "cleansing" products...Show more
Jarrod Darnall: I was a Master Herbalist a number of years ago, I have always been a Jewish female and I can't make a connection between inner herbal medicinal cleansing and the tradition of Mikveh. That about as close as washing your clothes in XYZ detergent and believing the claim by doing so your son will be more apt to be a rocket scientist !
