Cortez Badolato: watch robocop... all your questions will be answered.
Sabra Roers: If you have already had a Russian and a Syrian than I can skip the meaningless babal of hamster care. A robo is close to a Russian in terms of care. The only real difference is a robo is about twice as fast, and has a lot more energy than a Russian Dwarf and as you likely know Russian Dwarfs are already faster and more active than Syrians. Meaning that yes Robos are very fast and very energetic little guys. So you really want to make sure they have extra room in there cage and that there wheel is good for them. And just like Russian Dwarf, robos can be caged alone or together it's up to you. If you do cage them together it can be difficult just like with Russian dwarfs you have to know exactly what to expect. So do your own research on that if your interested in caging them together. Also if you do cage any together you need a much larger cage. Speaking of cages I don't ever really ! give out brands or cages by there name. Because personally I only use tanks or bin cages. Most often bin cages... and I think the bin cage is potentially one of the best cage types out there. Because they are cheap but even though they are cheap they are still really good. But when it comes to cages one of the most important things is how large the cage is. And the common thing to look for is how many square inches the cage is.The smallest recommended size for a Syrian Or Robo Dwarf Hamster is 360 square inches. So you would take the length x width and multiply them together to find out the square inches of floor space for your given cage. Doing this you will find that most cages or at least a lot of cages are simply to small. A 20 gallon long tank is almost exactly 360 square inches in size! So you don't have to use tanks but I am just letting you know that so you have something to go by. For a single Robo Hamster 360 square inches is the smallest I would ever look at get! ting. A 30 gallon long tank or a large bin cage would be perfe! ct for 1-2 robo hamsters. But larger is always better. The reason I like bin cages so much is because for $20 and minor modding you can make a cage with around 450-600+ square inches. Which could technically be good for up to three robo dwarfs but I would personally stick with 1-2 still. Also an adult robo dwarf should have about a 6.5" wheel but you could go as large as a 8.5" wheel and that might be recommended depending on the age and size of the robo. You mentioned what they can eat? Well yes most hamsters can eat the same things except some dwarf breeds cannot have sugar. I will provide you with a diet link in the source. In the very least a Robo dwarf can eat the same things a Russian dwarf can. You did not ask about bedding but make sure you never use pine or ceder wood bedding it can cause breathing problems in all hamsters. Aspen wood bedding and carefresh are both safe. Lastly, while robos are probably the hardest hamster to handle or tame... it depends on the ham! sters individual personality if your capable of taming and handling a dwarf you can tame and handle a robo it just takes a little more effort on average. But again it mainly depends on the personality of the robo you end up getting. I have never owned a robo dwarf but I have seen plenty of videos and stuff. And most people agree that they are faster and perhaps harder to pick up and keep in your hand compared to other hamsters but they are close to a Russian Dwarf in overall personality and difficulty. They are like russian dwarfs on speed!Edit-As for toys look for different types of chews, ones with seeds in them are great. Anything they can go inside of or climb on can be fun for robos or any hamster. Clean toilet paper rolls can interest them as well. But beyond that I don't have to much else to recommend. You don't have to get a tank or bin cage by any means but even if you do you can buy some tubes and stuff and lay them inside the tank or bin cage. I have bought vario! us different things and kind of set them up as a cave system. I connect! ed an shelter, edible chew log, some tubes and this other hay like tunnel and a climbing wood like thing all together put pushing them into each other or laying them on each other in a special way so they are all like one giant unit they can go inside of and explore and or climb around on the outside. For example I had the tube leading into the wood log, and the wood shelter/climb toy on the wood log to create an inner chamber and than I had the hay like chew tunnel pressed into the other side of the wood climb thing and at one point the hamsters shelter was connected....Show more
Janeen Perona: I have 8 roborovski dwarfs, 6 russian dwarfs ,1 chinese dwarf and 5 syrians and i find the roborovski and the russians can be housed together we have never had to seperate them the robos are very friendly and lots of fun but quite difficult to handle due to thier speed and being timid,a useful tip what we do to tame them is putting them in a box and letting them run around an! d place your hand in there let them get used to your hand being there they will in time walk over you and allow you to pick them up really great breed...Show more
