Gilberto Cratin: a genetic disease is well...genetic. It's passed from parent to child via their genes. (actually that's half true, some genetic diseases are passed on from parent but others, like down syndrome, are due to random mutation at conception and are not passed on to children. Most will think of the former when you say genetic condition )infections diseases are more transient (ie they aren't permanent). An example of an infectious disease is the common cold. You can catch it from anyone, have it for awhile then get over it, and give it to others. The main difference is one can't 'catch' a genetic condition. Either you are born with it or you aren't. Likewise the only way to transmit a genetic condition is by having children who inherit it. Also genetic conditions are permanent. Getting enough sleep and drinking orange juice may let you beat the common cold, but it's not going to do anything to get rid of a genetic condition, once you have it you always wi! ll have it....Show more
