Riley Migl: studying abroad is a great oppurtunity for people to travel who normally dont get to or wouldnt. I studied abroad with 30 other students and it was the my first plane trip. granted, it was a really tough experience and i would never do it again for a whole semester. however i got to travel around europe and realize that i CAN actually do something even tho i was so full of anxiety and nerves that i was over emotional for most of it. haha. the best part of meeting my roomate (now best friend) and being able to experience real culture other than the "culture" that has been created in the U.S. (which in my opinion isn't anything spectacular).the best part was being able to spend time with my homestay family. we had to stay in a castle, so being able to get away from all the drama and the moldy castle was really nice and to actually interact with a family and try new food and cook scones and have tea...that was really what i enjoyed the most. sure..the traveling ! was fun and seeing all the historical places that i love (im a hist major...) was amazing, but spending time with them was really what i liked best about the experience. and did it change me? no. do i want to go back? not really...cept germany....but only for a few days. i do encourage students to do it bc regardeless of some people, i think its harder to find time to travel when you are older. esp to countries over in europe and asia. plus, as a study program u get the benefit of learning to travel, really get to know the culture your visiting, and get the most out of it. if u have the slightest inkling to do it...do it or u'll regret it....Show more
Dee Depung: If you are thinking about it, i'd say do it! you won't regret it. It's such a different experience that tests who you are as a person because you leave the familiar and get to explore yourself since you have to interact with people of a different culture. Your mind is broadened so much and you get personal ex! perience not the one-sided information that is propagated. Eve! rywhere i've gone, the people there are very hospitable, welcoming, open and accepting, and very patient. They are willing to learn about you as much as you are about them. I could go on and on, but you wouldn't understand until you personally experience it! where are you thinking of going anyway? I'd recommend somewhere in asia or europe!...Show more
